AutoCAD Electrical Tool Palette

Q: I have installed AutoCAD Electrical 2010 and when opening the Tool Palette, I do not see the AutoCAD Electrical commands. What happened to them?
A: Autodesk removed them to focus on the new Ribbon Technology.

How to transfer AutoCAD Electrical 2008/2009 Tool Palette to AutoCAD Electrical 2010

AutoCAD Electrical 2010 focus is on the Ribbon only and the AutoCAD Electrical Tool Palette tabs were removed.

AutoCAD Electrical 2010 users will need to make their own custom tool palette from AutoCAD Electrical 2008/2009 for AutoCAD Electrical 2010.

In AutoCAD Electrical 2008/2009 do the following:
1. Right click on tool palette and select Customize Palettes
2. Select a palette name on the left and right click
3. Select Export
4. Repeat for each one you want to bring over.

In AutoCAD Electrical 2010 do the following:
1. Right click on tool palette and select Customize Palettes
2. On the left side, right click and select Import
3. Select one of the XTP files from above
4. Repeat for each one

Frame Generator and Content Center error

QUESTION:
When I start the Frame Generator command I get the following error message:

“Problems encountered while executing frame insert command.”
“Failed to read data from Content Center.”
“Content Center server query failed. Please check your Content Center configuration to make sure all required libraries are present or check Content Center connectivity to server”

ANSWER:
This message means that you are not logged into Vault.

You will need to log into Vault to access the Content Center files.
1. In Inventor go to FILE > Autodesk Data Management Server > Log In…
2. In the login dialog box enter your login name and password, also enter the server name and database name.

3. If ADMS is loaded locally and you are not using Vault to check in/out files you will need to place a check in the “Content Center library read only user” box.

Inventor/ADMS 2009 Custom Libraries

After upgrading to Inventor 2009 and Productstream/Vault 2009, I cannot see my Custom Libraries that were created with Inventor 2008.

What do I need to do to make them work with Inventor 2009?

Open ADMS 2009 on the Server and make a COPY of your existing Library that was created in Inventor/ADMS 2008.
Right Click on your library "AI2008_My Library" and select COPY.

In the COPY LIBRARY dialog box make sure PARTITION is set to AUTODESK INVENTOR 2009, and then type the name of the new Database and then click OK.

After the copy finishes you should have a copy of the Library now in 2009 format. To be used with Inventor 2009.

Now in INVENTOR Project click "Configure Libraries" and then click the "ADD" button and you should see the one you just created.
Click OK to add it to the list of Libraries.
